• Sophomores

During Sophomore year students should continue to focus on learning and exploring by taking challenging courses, learning how to work in different settings and within a group, and to develop self-advocacy and communication skills.   Additionally, take time to pursue your interests and to explore various career pathways.  Get involved in your school or greater community as these experiences allow you to know your likes and dislikes, which is an important factor in decision making.  We do offer some Postsecondary programming specifically targeted to sophomores during second semester.  This programming provides some guidance on things such as course selection for junior year, considerations for the following summer and and planning for standardized testing during junior year.

Below you will find links to a number of resources to help you with your postsecondary search, selection, and application process. The College Planning Handbook is a thorough guide with lots of great information, and MaiaLearning is the main online resource we utilize to provide college and career data as it relates to Highland Park High School.  Please speak with your School Counselor at any time with questions or concerns regarding postsecondary options and know that we work closely as a team.  We also want you to know that you can always stop by the CRC with a quick question for Mr. Becker.
