General Testing Information
Shift from SAT to ACT: The Illinois State Board of Education, ISBE, recently awarded a six-year contract to ACT as the provider of the state’s required accountability assessment for graduation. That means that after nearly a decade of taking the SAT, high school students in Illinois will shift back to taking the ACT in spring 2025. We look forward to partnering with our District 113 students, families, and staff to make this transition of assessments as seamless as possible.
- This shift to ACT as the accountability assessment will take place in spring 2025. Testing dates for 9th, 10th and 11th graders are April 9th and 10th, 2025
- As a result of this shift, District 113 will begin working on transitioning to the ACT suite of assessments for students in grades 9-10, to prepare students for taking the ACT in spring of their junior year.
- Unlike the SAT, the ACT has an embedded science component so ISBE has eliminated the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) as an additional standalone test.
The National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test will still be offered for Sophomores and Juniors in the Fall. More information can be found by clicking the tab, PSAT/NMSQT.
Weekend testing site for national test dates: In addition, ACT and College Board (for SAT) use Deerfield High School as a testing center for the ACT and/or SAT national test dates. As such, it is an open testing center for all students; registration is done directly through ACT/College Board and students not residing in our communities are also eligible to request this location for a weekend testing site.
