Culturally Responsive Teaching & the Brain

  • As part of our professional learning for the 2022-23 school year, District 113 staff are reading Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain by Zaretta Hammond.  A book study can be a powerful way for educators to drive their learning. A book study is an effective form of professional learning because new learning can be immediately applied in the classroom. Through institute days, late start mornings, department meetings, lunch-and-learn, and many other opportunities, staff will be involved in multiple sessions where there is continuous discussion around this relevant topic and the qualitative and quantitative data that has arisen from school.
