District 113 Board of Education Appoints Anne Neumann to Fill Board Vacancy

Highland Park, IL - June 16, 2021 - The Township High School District 113 Board of Education has announced the appointment of Anne Neumann to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mike Perlman in April. Mrs. Neumann will serve the remainder of Mr. Perlman’s term, which expires in April 2023.
“After announcing the vacancy May 3, the Board actively sought applicants during a seven-day period,” said Board President Jodi Shapira. "During a Special Meeting June 7, the Board conducted in-depth interviews with candidates to determine who could best serve this district during this critical time for our students and staff. While there were many candidates who applied who could have filled this seat, it was clear to this Board that the skillset Anne brings will help us as we grapple with the academic and social-emotional impact of the pandemic on our families. Anne has been very involved in the schools as a parent and as a volunteer, serving as PTO Co-President at the high school and elementary school level. She has also volunteered her time in non-profit organizations dedicated to education and children’s mental health so she understands many of the issues we are facing and she will be able to contribute that perspective to our work.”
“I am thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to serve my community,” said Anne Neumann. “As a parent of a recent DHS graduate, as well as a rising junior, and rising sophomore, I’m well aware of the pandemic’s impact on our children. We’ve all experienced learning gaps and mental health challenges. I am ready to get to work with the other members of the Board to respond to these most immediate needs while also focusing on the Board’s long-term goals."
Mrs. Neumann recently served as the Deerfield High School PTO Co-President and is a Board Member and Treasurer for CATCH Inc. Community Action Together for Children’s Health, a nonprofit organization that empowers families to foster resilience and prioritize mental health and emotional wellness in their children. She also served as PTO Co-President at Walden Elementary School and as a District 109 Destination Imagination Team Manager for more than 10 years. Along with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Loyola University Chicago she has 20 plus years of experience in project management, marketing, and client relationship development. She resides in Deerfield with her husband and three children.
