Social Studies Department Scholarship, Leadership, & Engagement Award

  • The Social Studies Department's Scholarship, Leadership, and Engagement Award honors students who have dedicated themselves to 3.5 or more years in social studies courses during their time at HPHS and have demonstrated an exemplary curricular and extracurricular interest in social studies scholarship and leadership. The students chosen will exhibit many of the following traits:

    • Notable leadership in social studies coursework
    • Notable growth in scholarship or passion regarding the social studies
    • A social justice orientation, experiences, work
    • Meaningful cross group interaction in school settings
    • Extracurricular activities related to social studies
    • Consistent civic engagement in the school or larger community
    • Desire to engage in the social studies after graduation
