D113 Opens Application Process to Fill Board Vacancy

District 113 Community, 

At the May 3 Board of Education meeting, I announced that Board Member Mike Perlman submitted his resignation effective April 27. In accordance with state law and Board policy, the vacancy has been reported to the Regional Office of Education and as shared at the May 10 meeting, the District 113 Board is now accepting applications to fill the remainder of Mr. Perlman’s term, which expires in April of 2023. 

Applicants interested in becoming a member of the District 113 Board of Education must meet the qualifications set forth in state law and Board policy:

- Be a United States citizen

- Be at least 18 years old

- Have been a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year

- Be a registered voter

- Not a child sex offender

- Not hold another incompatible public office

- Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District

- Not a school trustee

- Not hold certain types of prohibited state or federal employment

In addition, applicants should be able to attend Board of Education meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. for closed session and 7 p.m. for open session. You can access the Board's meeting calendar by visiting https://www.dist113.org/domain/33.

The application is available at this link. The deadline to complete this application is May 20 at 5 p.m. and qualified candidates will be invited to interview on June 7.
