General Legal Notices

At the beginning of each school year, parents/guardians may request information regarding the professional qualifications of the student’s classroom teachers, including at a minimum whether the student’s teacher:

  1. Has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction
  2. Is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which state qualification or licensing criteria have been waived
  3. Is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher; and whether the student is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications

Parent/Guardian's Right to Know

School Visitation Rights Act

The School Visitation Rights Act provides employed parents and guardians (who are otherwise unable to meet with educators because of work conflicts) the right to 8 hours of unpaid time off during the school year to attend necessary education or behavioral conferences at their children's schools.
