The Township High School District 113 Strategic Plan

Superintendent Dr. Chala Holland and the Board of Education partnered with Catalyst for Educational Change (CEC) to develop a new Strategic Plan for District 113, which was approved in June of 2025. With input from students, staff, families and community partners, the plan establishes a clear roadmap for the future, reflecting our shared vision, embracing collaboration, and ensuring every student benefits from an equitable and exceptional educational experience.

Strategic Planning Resources

Background

Since District 113 last engaged in strategic planning in 2017, the world around us has changed significantly. In light of these shifts, Superintendent Dr. Chala Holland and the Board of Education recognized the importance of revisiting our district’s direction and priorities.

The Board approved the Strategic Plan on June 10, 2025.

To guide this work, District 113 partnered with Catalyst for Educational Change (CEC), a team with deep experience in educational equity and systems change. Together, we convened a diverse Strategic Plan Committee made up of students, staff, families, municipal leaders, elementary district partners and Board representatives.

Over multiple sessions, this group came together to reflect on where we are as a district, envision the future we want to build, and shape a roadmap to get us there, thoughtfully and collaboratively. This plan will serve as a foundation for decision-making and continuous improvement in the years ahead.

Homework Resources

For the March 19 meeting, the Strategic Planning Team reviewed one of three of the following print resources as well as a web resources listed below. The purpose of the assignment was to identify 2-3 ideas that raise excitement about possibilities different from what the team is familiar with in traditional high school education that could be visionary ideas for District 113. These resources were discussed as part of the work to stimulate innovative thinking and creative problem-solving, and ensure a shared foundation for collaborative discussions in designing the preferred future state for District 113.
