Update on Lockdown at HPHS

Dear District 113 Community, 

At 10:24 a.m. District 113 received an anonymous tip reporting a rumor of a student in possession of a gun. Immediately following the report of that tip, Highland Park High School reported the tip to law enforcement. As Highland Park High School began investigating the tip, another student came forward to report seeing a student with a gun. At that point, Highland Park Police Department was already on the scene and advised HPHS to go into lockdown. 

The student alleged to have a gun was identified, and security footage indicated that he and another student had left the building. Law enforcement conducted a sweep of the building while other police searched for the two students who had left the building. Both students have been apprehended. 

Although both students law enforcement were seeking have been apprehended, law enforcement is keeping HPHS on lockdown as it continues its investigation.

A las 10:24 a. m., el Distrito 113 recibió un aviso anónimo sobre el rumor de que un estudiante estaba en posesión de un arma. Inmediatamente después del informe de ese dato, la Escuela Secundaria Highland Park denunció el dato a la policía. Cuando Highland Park High School comenzó a investigar la pista, otro estudiante se adelantó para informar que había visto a un estudiante con un arma. En ese momento, el Departamento de Policía de Highland Park ya estaba en la escena y aconsejó a HPHS que se cerrara.

El estudiante que supuestamente tenía un arma fue identificado yseguridad imágenesindicado que él y otro estudiante habían salido del edificio. Aplicación de la ley realizadaun barrido de laedificio mientras otros policíasbuscado por los dos estudiantes que habían salido del edificio. Ambos estudiantes han sido detenidos.

Aunque ambos estudiantes de las fuerzas del orden buscabantener sido aprehendido, la policía mantiene a HPHS bajo llave mientras continúa su investigación.
