Know that students are only in attendance for those course periods in which a final exam is being administered. They are welcome to utilize the library and cafeteria throughout the day or between scheduled assessments if otherwise not scheduled for a test.
We will be posting a full list of scheduled exams as we collect this information from departments.
ABSENCE FROM AN EXAMINATION
DUE TO ILLNESS
Parents are requested to call both the Attendance Office and the teacher if a student cannot take a regularly scheduled examination due to illness. The teacher will then arrange an appropriate make-up time.
If an examination is to be missed for any reason other than illness, we ask that parents/guardians contact the Department Chair associated with that particular subject by December 14, 2018.
A special bus schedule for the three examination days will be posted. Copies will be posted on bulletin boards in the bookstore foyer, the library, bus lobby, front office and on the DHS web site.
The student and faculty cafeteria will be available during exams, serving a limited menu.
If school must be canceled during an exam day due to inclement weather or some other circumstance, the exam day that is cancelled will automatically be rescheduled on Friday, December 21. This would necessarily replace the Institute Day.
As a result of changes in our assessment practices, our computer labs will be used as testing rooms. Therefore, the computer labs will not be available during exam week.
A student having three exams on the same day may elect to move one of the exams. It is the responsibility of the student to make arrangements with their teacher to reschedule the exam. If a conflict persists, students/families are directed to contact the Department Chair for resolution. There is a conflict period at the end of the final day to allow the option of a makeup or alternatively scheduled exam. Teachers are asked to provide Assistant Principal Ken Williams with the exam prior to the conflict period.
Please make every effort to be on time for an exam. No one will be admitted to an exam room after the test has started. Students who arrive late are responsible for contacting the appropriate teacher to arrange for a make-up.
