We are thankful and excited the IHSA has allowed cross country to happen this fall. While things will look a little different, our goal is to have a safe and healthy season while improving as runners. We do not make cuts for new runners, so will welcome anyone who wants to try cross country this fall.
All girls MUST register for cross country from the DHS Athletics website. This will be available starting Tuesday Aug 4.
Throughout the season, Covid safety protcols will be in place. These measures include screening athletes as they arrive to practice, wearing masks while entering and leaving practice, and starting practice in a designated "anchor" spot for each individual. We will also continually emphasize social distancing before, during, and after workouts.
The first day of the season is August 10th and our first practice is the Midnight Mile. We meet on the track at midnight as Sunday Aug. 9th turns to Monday the 10th. Aug 11 - 14 we will meet at 4:00. On school days there will be a bus for athletes to take to school after remote learning is done. This will get athletes to school by 4:00, so any school day practices will begin at this time.
Our meet schedule is yet to be determine, so the rest of the calenar will by the beginning of the season.
