The Deerfield Girls split their squad to compete this weekend with the varsity travelling to the famed course at Detweiller Park and all others heading to Adler Park for the Libertyville Invite. While PR's were hard to come by at Adler, it does provide for a true cross country experience. Especially with all the rain in recent days, the runners had to deal with hills, puddles, mud, woods, and rugged trails.
In Peoria, the conditions were a little more favorable for fast times. Rain and storms greeted the runners at breakfast time, but it magically stopped just as we arrived to the course. Gray skies, little wind, and cool(er) temps all contributed to 10 of our 14 girls earning PR's. In the frosh/soph race, Caroline broke the 20-minute barrier and was our lone medal winner on the day. Annie had the biggest improvement of over a minute as she continues to make her way back from a hip injury. In what is our largest meet of the year, the Warriors went home happy with their overall performance, especially considering 9 of the 14 runners this weekend had never made this trip before.
