Record breaking season despite the pandemic-5 state placers
Our season of success despite a pandemic
We avoided getting shut down even though we tested twice a week. This was a big success and we did all we could to stay healthy.
We had 7 senior wrestlers earn the scholar-athlete award which we will hand out on the award day at the Goodman's
(Scholar athletes must have at least 2 years in wrestling, one of those years as a senior (must be a senior), must have either a 3.0 un-weighted or 4.0 weighted semester grade point.)
Andrew Bender, John Flaminio, Vincent Flaminio, Rory Perlow, Sam Reichman, Lucas Wittkamp, Jon Ybarra
We won the conference for the 13th consecutive year and had 11 all-conference wrestlers.
We won Regionals for the 5th time in 7 years and qualified 13 wrestlers from our super Regional to Sectionals.
We took 2nd in our Sectionals (to the eventual state champions) and qualified 8 wrestlers to state which is a new record.
We placed 4th in the state (highest finish since 2017 also 4th). We placed 5 wrestlers in the state which broke our previous record of 3 which we have done twice.
We also had 2 wrestlers compete for a state championship which is also a school record.
Every wrestler that competed downstate won at least one match helping us place 4th overall.
Lucas Wittkamp-Senior 3rd in state 120 lbs
Renzo Morgan-Soph one match from placing 126 lbs
Rory Perlow-Senior 2nd in state 132 lbs
Stamos Tsakiris-Junior 145 lbs
Lucio Morgan-Junior 152 lbs 5th in state
Ben Shvartsman-Junior 152 lbs 2nd in state
Aiden Cohen-Soph 160 lbs 5th in state
Braeden Wittkamp-Junior one match from placing 170 lbs
I have almost finished the wrestling end of season program-please take a look. We will also be adding a highlight video as well.
Lead Strong,
