Welcome and Overview

  • Welcome to Astronomy Club! Students will meet a couple of times each month to discuss current events and theories related to astronomy and to plan astronomical observation events.  We are currently planning activities and meeting dates for the 2017-2018 academic year.




    In addition to discussing astronomy news, we will also have specific topics for each meeting. If there is a topic you would like us to discuss, let me or Mr. Nelson know so we can compile a list for the rest of the year. This month we will be talking about zodiacs, constellations, and asterisms. Being familiar with the night sky is helpful if you'd like to come to any future star parties!

    Speaking of star parties, there might be one in the second half of October, weather permitting. Star parties are held at Moraine Park, which is located at 2501 Sheridan Road in Highland Park. And, if it's not too cloudy, we might use telescopes to look at the sun during one of our upcoming afternoon meetings.
