Board Policy Overview

  • A major duty of the Township High School District 113 Board of Education is to formulate, adopt and modify Board policies. Board policies ensure legal compliance, define operating limits, describe District goals and processes, and inform the community of the general policies and philosophy of the District. It is through policy that the Board provides direction to the Superintendent and those in his or her charge. Administrative procedures set District-wide protocols implementing these policies. However, in some situations, it is more appropriate to have building-level protocols, which can address specifics of each school’s situation. Policy and procedures are both established to maintain an environment conducive to learning and to provide a basis for monitoring progress toward District ends.
