Courses & Course Guidelines

One-term courses that allow for students to earn transcript credit, and where applicable, can fulfill graduation requirements. Examples include, but are not limited to, Graphic Design, Introduction to Programming, Civics, Consumer Economics, Traffic Safety and Health. For the most part, these courses meet for about 5 hours each day for one three week Term. We will not be offering any year-long, academic year courses. Students are limited to two academic year courses in Summer School over the course of their four years (2 credits).

We plan on offering innovative credit recovery options in a variety of formats to meet our students’ needs. Grade data from the school year will be analyzed and used to predict our Summer School needs in this area. More information and details will be shared as the school year progresses.

Enrichment courses are designed for students who want to explore an area of interest that they may not typically be able to do during the academic year. These courses are offered for general elective credit and do not satisfy any graduation requirements.

Enrichment workshops are similar to enrichment courses, but are shorter in duration and can be designed to be much more flexible in nature. Enrichment workshops can explore a specific area of interest for a period of time determined by the instructor. Since enrichment workshops are not necessarily for credit, there is no expectation for students to reach particular learning targets, standards, or goals.

District 113 reserves the right to cancel or limit enrollment for any course up to the first day of Summer School. Courses are listed alphabetically by department. The offerings and number of sections listed in the program of studies are tentative and contingent upon enrollment. We require a minimum number of students per section in order to run a course.

Courses that do not meet the minimum enrollment by May 27th, 2026, will be reviewed by the administrators and may be cancelled. If this is the case, parents/guardians will be notified and a full refund will be issued for the cancelled class.

Tuition costs are listed under each course. A $50.00 non- refundable registration fee is included in the cost.

Course schedules will be made available on the Infinite Campus Parent-Student Portal prior to the first day of Summer School. The schedules will include the teachers’ name and class room number.

All classes will run for either six weeks (Terms 1 and 2) or three weeks (Terms 1 OR 2) during Summer School, unless otherwise noted in the course description. Some classes will run from 8:50 AM - 2:10 PM (periods 1 and 2), while some classes will meet either period 1 (8:50 AM - 11:20 AM) or period 2 (11:40 AM - 2:10 PM). Details of when each class will meet are included in the course descriptions.

Students and parents should note that the learning outcomes for Summer School courses mirror those of academic year courses. The times above represent contact time with teachers and/or instructional material, but in most instances, students will be expected to complete additional homework and assignments during the Term(s).

If a course is full, a student’s registration in Infinite Campus will automatically revert to a section called Wait List. If a seat in the course becomes available, Wait List students will be added to the roster on a first-come, first-served basis. If a seat does not open by the time Summer School begins, the full registration fee will be refunded.
