Credit Recovery & Grade Improvement Courses:

Summer School provides opportunities for students to recover credit and improve grades. Students who previously earned a grade of Incomplete may be able to retake the course during Summer School, recover the credit, and replace the grade of Incomplete. Students who previously earned a grade of C+ or lower may also be able to retake the course during the summer in order to improve and replace the previously earned grade. In both instances, the student has one calendar year plus the subsequent summer to complete the coursework. If this timeframe has elapsed, the student is ineligible to retake a course for the purpose of replacing a grade. Not all courses are available during Summer School for retake opportunities. When deciding what courses will run, Summer School Administration takes a variety of factors into account including the availability of qualified staff and the number of students requesting the opportunity. For more information about retaking a course, please review District 113 Board of Education Policy 6-280. If a student would like to improve a passing grade of C+ or lower, they should consult with their counselor to determine if Summer School is an option and fill out the Summer School Grade Improvement Request Form.

If a student would like to recover a credit for which they earned an Incomplete, they should contact their counselor in order to initiate the process.

Open to: District 113 students wanting to earn recovery or grade improvement credit.
Credit: Grade recovery or grade improvement.
Cost: For credit recovery: No Cost. Cost for grade improvement: $300 (per Term).
