Welcome

Transfer Students and Families

We are excited to welcome transfer students into our Giant family! This website contains important information to assist with your transition to Highland Park High School.

STEP ONE

The first step is to complete the Enrollment and Online Registration

Completing the Online Registration is the first step in the enrollment and registration process. During this process you may be asked to upload copies of certain documents (photo ID, birth certificate, etc.). The Online Registration will allow you to begin your application and return to it as often as you wish before officially submitting it for approval. All required information is noted with a red asterisk *. Once the application is submitted you will not be able to access or make changes to it. The Registrar will contact you if additional information is required.

Giant Night Video Presentation

In this video you will hear a Giant Welcome from our Principal, Debby Finn and watch a montage that highlights the myriad activities offered at HPHS. Academic department chairs will share details about our curricular offerings.

Course Registration, Program of Studies and Daily Schedule

Once the online registration is complete, you will be contacted by the Counseling Office to set up an appointment with a school counselor. The student may also be required to take placement tests. Both the student and parent/guardian must be present at the registration meeting. The registration meeting will last approximately 1 1/2 hours.

The Program of Studies (link above) outlines graduation requirements and provides course descriptions. The HPHS Program of Studies provides detailed information about graduation requirements, academic departments, course offerings and prerequisites, academic policies, and the registration timeline. Students must enroll in a minimum of five classes each semester, one of which must be physical education or health.

Please explore our website for special education. If your transfer student has an IEP or 504 plan, make sure to mention this to the school counselor during the course registration process.

Important Video from HPHS School Nurses

All incoming students must have completed Health Forms completed before starting. If you do not have a printer, a copy of these forms may be picked up at Highland Park High School and at the Highwood Library.

All transfer students will be assigned an Ambassador to help them with their transition to HPHS. Please complete the form above so we can learn more about your student to make the best connection. We invite all transfer students to attend a Welcome Breakfast on Friday, August 13 from 9:00-10:30am in room C204.

HPHS has a myriad of co-curricular offerings. From animal rights to wrestling and badminton to Latin Dance, we have something for everyone. Click on the links to learn more.

All students are assigned a school counselor who will support them during their tenure at HPHS. In addition, our postsecondary counselors assist students with their plans for life after high school. Click on the links above to learn more.

The HPHS Drop-in Center offers a safe and friendly environment for students to talk. We invite you to learn more about our support groups, our staff, and our DIY Mental Health.
