Pride and Prejudice
by Jane Austen

Pride and Prejudice was written in 1808 by Jane Austen, this was her most famous and loved novel. This love story puts a comical twist on finding the perfect significant other. The main plot of the story encounters a Mr. Darcy and a Miss. Elizabeth Bennett. The novel depicts how the two of them circle around each other due to their differences in opinion and stubbornness, until they finally give in to their love for one another. Elizabeth Bennett is known throughout British Literature as Jane Austen's most notorious character. She has the characteristics of a woman far more advanced than her time period dictated, so naturally, she was frowned upon. Mr. Darcy is a wealthy man who at first refused Elizabeth because she wasn't pretty enough. His sanctimonious attitude is eventually won over by Elizabeth's charm, intelligence, and wit. There is a minor sub-plot about Elizabeth's other sisters and their struggle to find a husband.
