· Students use a lab manual for all lab work and *keep graded, typed labs in a lab folder in the classroom. These folders can be referenced at any time while planning for or completing future labs.
· *Each semester (at least), one test includes an essay question where students specifically refer to previous labs to support their current ideas. This encourages the students to reflect and build on previous ideas and work.
· Each concept has a “culminating” lab. *Students design pre-lab individually or with partners instead of whole class. Each “culminating” lab is based on previous concepts and lab work; therefore, the students can access previous techniques and process how the ideas connect.
