A Great Success!

Over 100 students and staff participated and over 23,000 lbs of carbon emissions were withheld from the environment. Check it out here.

The Problem:

Each day, nearly 500 students and staff members drive to HPHS.    Emissions from automobiles are terribly detrimental to the environment, and are directly linked to global warming, acid rain, and toxins in our air & water.

The Solution:

It is easy…DRIVE LESS.

By limiting the amount of driving that we do, we can limit the amount of pollutants that we produce.   Recent estimates suggest that if a person reduces his or her driving by only 1 mile per week, that he or she will eliminate 50 lbs of C02 from the atmosphere -

Our Response:

In celebration of Earth Week, GSI is asking all students and staff who drive to school to avoid driving to school next Wednesday, April 30.  Please bike, walk, rollerblade, or take public transportation.  By significantly reducing the number of cars in our parking lots, we can symbolically demonstrate that HPHS is committed to being responsible stewards of the environment.

What Can You Do To Help?

On Wednesday, April 30, you can refrain from driving to school.  Carpool or use public transportation as alternatives to driving your own vehicle.

1.   8:00 – 9:00 Healthy breakfast - Athletic Circle Drive for those using alternative transportation.

2.   HPHS Earth Week Headbands for first 100 people.
