Many of the courses in the Science Department are offered at different ability levels. These levels are noted and separate descriptions are printed below. Students may select their own level using the advice they receive from parents, teachers, and counselors.

All science courses meet 7 periods per week unless otherwise stated. In year long courses the first semester is a prerequisite for the second. No laboratory fee for material is charged in any class, but students are responsible for returning, in good condition, all equipment checked out to them. Most courses require a text, a laboratory manual, and a notebook for recording experimental data.
