Physical Education Leaders Program

Overview

Students wishing to be in the Physical Education Leaders Program must apply and be accepted into the program. The program will take the place of regular Physical Education classes. The Physical Education Leaders Program is a two year program in which students develop leadership skills to be used in the Physical Education setting. Junior year students are placed in one of three Junior Leader sections, in place of their PE class. Most freshmen and sophomore activities are presented. Students also learn how to lead exercises, take attendance, set up drills, officiate, spot in gymnastics, and many other leadership skills that are helpful for Physical Education classes. Senior year, leaders are assigned to a freshmen or sophomore class where they use the skills learned junior year to work with under class students in Physical Education class. There is also an opportunity to work with students with disabilities who are in the ELS or Essentials Programs. Training is provided to help facilitate the leader in successfully working with students in the ELS or Essentials program.
