Who takes the tests:
- All juniors take the ACT
as part of the Prairie State Assessment Exam. Currently the new optional essay
section is not offered during the Prairie State Assessment Exam. The Prairie State exam is a graduation
requirement.
- It is recommended that students
take one administration of the ACT with the optional essay.
- All college-bound juniors
are encouraged to take the ACT and/or SAT: Reasoning Test.
- To be considered as a National
Merit Finalists students must take the PSAT and SAT: Reasoning Test
by December of senior year.
- Sophomores are encouraged
to take the PSAT as a practice test.
- Sophomores enrolled in AP
or Honor’s courses may want to consider taking the SAT: Subject Tests in May
or June of sophomore year. However, remember these scores will be released
at a later date with other SAT scores if the student requests that SAT Reasoning Test or SAT Subject
tests be released from the testing agency.
