About the Superintendent

  • District 113 welcomed Dr. Bruce Law as Superintendent of Schools on May 1, 2019.

Dr. Law’s appointment follows a comprehensive national search process coordinated by a respected search firm School Exec Connect that began its work last fall by conducting a series of 18 focus groups and administering a District-wide survey to staff, parents, and community members. Results from the focus groups and survey were used to identify the desired characteristics for the new superintendent. A highly qualified field of more than forty candidates was narrowed to five who were interviewed by the Board of Education last month. Three finalists then participated in a full day of interviews with groups of District stakeholders, followed by an in-depth second interview with the Board.

Dr. Law joins District 113 from Hinsdale Township High School District 86 where he served as Superintendent for over six years and as Assistant Superintendent of Instruction before becoming Superintendent. Prior to joining District 86, he served as Head of School at Chicago Virtual Charter School and in various other positions including Director of Research and School Improvement at Monroe County Community School Corporation in Bloomington, Indiana, where he began his career as a high school English and Latin teacher. Dr. Law has also served as an Assistant Professor in the educational leadership program at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois.

Dr. Law earned his doctorate, master’s and educational specialist degrees from Indiana University and his bachelor’s degree from Missouri State University.
