THREE-YEAR LONG-RANGE PLAN
April 2002
This is the action phase of the long-range plan. The initiatives listed below are a result of input from the Learning Teams in both schools, the November In-service Day and from parents, teachers, students, and our community who have collaborated to identify the important issues to be examined in our District. Following are the broad initiatives that will be addressed through the year 2003. The anticipated beginning date of each initiative follows the brief description.
Each school has a Long Range Plan (LRP) Steering committee that provides a "systems check" on the status of each individual initiative. These committees consist of community, students, staff and administration. Generally, the Long Range Plan Steering Committee meets on a quarterly basis. After each meeting, the minutes of these sessions are posted within each initiative's web page under "Minutes & Notes". For more information on each school's LRP steering committee, look here:

Learning
for Life Abilities
Define and implement systematic ways to incorporate the
Learning for Life Abilities into all aspects of our students’ lives.
Curricular
and Instructional Best Practices
Embed curricular, instructional, and assessment best practices
that enhance learning opportunities for students such as:
differentiating curriculum,
project based learning,
integrated instruction, etc.
Developmental Assets
Analyze and administer the Developmental Assets survey in order
to effectively partner with parents and students to increase the number of
assets in students’ lives.

Develop a menu of
senior year options where students experience authentic, self-directed
in-depth learning.

within departments including learning goals, objectives, and integration of the
Learning for Life Abilities.

Expand curricular
opportunities for students electing summer school.
Develop more and better
avenues for students to explore career choices. Internships, senior experience,
aptitude testing, and embedding career education with selected curricular areas
should all be explored.
Develop a matrix of
essential technology skills that allows students to demonstrate and teachers to
map students’ attainment of proficiency in technology skills that are embedded
within the four-year curriculum.
Investigate the development an on-site
technology curriculum that accommodates the needs of students.
