The Long-Range Plan Steering Committee will meet with the building initiative subcommittees. In those meetings, the objective is to discuss the process and progress of each initiative being undertaken. The Long-Range Plan Steering Committee will listen, record data, and ask appropriate questions so that the initiative subcommittee can benefit from an insider/outsider perspective.
The Long-Range Plan Steering Committee will expect that each subcommittee comes to the discussion having prepared responses to the following core questions:
What is the current status of your initiative?
What is your vision of the end point or the ultimate level of success for your initiative?
How does your work with initiative X reflect the sub-points of Guiding Principle(s) one and two?
How could your work with initiative X more effectively reflect Guiding Principle one and two?
What is your current understanding of the steps necessary to achieve the desired outcome?
What resources or additional support do you need?
What student data do you have that demonstrates that initiative X is benefiting students and enhancing their ability to learn?
The Long-Range Plan Steering Committee will seek to meet with each active building initiative subcommittee over the course of the year. The meetings would take place approximately once per quarter and each subcommittee would meet with the Long-Range Plan Steering Committee for 3 class periods. Therefore, the Long-Range Plan Steering Committee members would plan to miss class one full day per quarter. In addition, the Long-Range Plan Steering Committee may need to meet prior to these joint meetings in order to prepare for the conversation.
The Long-Range Plan Steering Committee representatives will also serve as the liaison for one of the subcommittee initiatives. The LRP representative need not attend the subcommittee meetings; however the representative should receive the minutes and will stay connected informally with the committee chairs.
The initiatives which will likely come to the Long-Range Plan Steering Committee this year might include: Technology Literacy, Attendance, Career Opportunities/Senior Experience, First Class, Dialogue Groups, Integration of Curriculum and Time in the School Day.
The District Learning Team, the DLT, will manage and report on the progress of the District Long-Range Plan initiatives.
