About the superintendent
Dr. Christopher Dignam assumed the role of Superintendent of Schools for Township High School District 113 on June 17, 2016.
Dr. Dignam had served as principal of Deerfield High School since July 2015. Prior to being named principal at DHS, Dr. Dignam spent three years as principal of Lane Tech College Prep, a public four-year selective enrollment magnet school in Chicago. Dr. Dignam also served as assistant principal at Lane Tech for five years, as a science coach for the Chicago Board of Education’s District Area 23 Office for two years, and as a biology teacher at Lane Tech for six years. Dr. Dignam, an alumnus of Lane Tech, began his educational career as a biology teacher at Prosser Career Academy.
Dr. Dignam holds a master’s degree in school leadership from Concordia University, a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Olivet Nazarene University, and a bachelor’s degree in biological science from Northeastern Illinois University. He earned his doctorate in teacher leadership from Walden University. In 2012, Dr. Dignam traveled to Washington D.C. to accept the National Blue Ribbon award on behalf of his students, parents, staff, and community. In 2013, and again in 2015, Dr. Dignam was awarded the Principal Achievement Award for the outstanding academic growth of students and for his efforts as an exceptional educational leader. In addition, Dr. Dignam was named the McCormick Foundation High School Media Illinois Principal of the Year in 2014."
