• The goal of the Fine Arts department is to foster the student's search for his/her/their identity as a creative individual. We welcome all learners regardless of past experience or ability level. Our classes provide practical knowledge, dedicated facilities, and an encouraging environment to foster growth in the student’s chosen discipline.

The curriculum seeks to balance traditional learning and projects/performance-based learning, so that dedicated students can complete their assignments with minimal outside time. The degree to which students are successful in their search depends on the amount of energy they are prepared to commit to their projects.

Many visual arts courses require that students augment basic supplies with purchases of additional materials— costs should be minimal in these cases. In the instance of loss or damage of school tools or equipment loaned to the student, the student is responsible for repair or replacement costs.

Students in Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Chorale and Theatre may apply to earn honors credit.

One semester of Fine Arts is required for graduation. Please note that the Fine Arts Advisory courses do not count as "one year of Fine Arts" when applying for college.

See the Program of Studies for further information.
